Bandsintown Powers Up and Coming Concert Discovery Apps
Last September Bandsintown was excited to become the first and only aggregator of concert tickets and information to completely open its API to developers and give them the opportunity to generate income through an affiliate program. Since then, in addition to our major API partners we’ve had more than 70 developers register as affiliates and use our data in some very cool new products.
Below are 5 up and coming web and mobile applications built using the Bandsintown API that help music fans discover and experience live music:
1. Tourmappr (by Something More Human)

TourMappr is a Google Maps mash up that allows users to see where favorite artists are and where they are going while on tour, buy tickets for upcoming events, and share tour info with friends via email and social networks. Added bonus: Tour Trivia! You can one-up your friends with fun tour facts like how many miles the band traveled, how many meals eaten etc. Check out a quick demo here.
2. Alice On Android (by CITC)

Alice is one of the top Android apps for discovering upcoming live music events. The app syncs with the artists on your phone as well as your last.fm account. It also allows you to search for artist directly or browse for upcoming events by location, add events to your calendar, purchase tickets, and notify your friends of upcoming events via email. The app is offered in full (paid) and limited, ad supported versions. Check out a demo video here.
3. SuperGlued
SuperGlued is a community for live music lovers built around the notion that the shared live music experience is like a glue that bonds us together. Via a website and iPhone app, SuperGlued offers community members the ability to browse upcoming show and buy tickets, share photos, videos and other media from the show, and meet others attending the same show or those with similar concert histories.
4. Bandsintown Layar (by Squio.nl)
The Bandsintown Layar is an augmented reality app available for Android and iphone that identifies upcoming concerts taking place within a certain distance from your current location, and then displays that info through the augmented reality layar or in a list view. Users can filter results based on time and distance, as well access detailed artist and event pages through Bandsintown.com
5. Hotaround.me (by Wow.ly)
Hotaround.me is a foursquare mash up that provides hyper-local news and event information. Users are exposed to upcoming event and ticketing info based on the location of their most recent foursquare check-in. The site has not been “officially” released yet, but is already available unrestricted to the public.
At Bandsintown, one of our main goals is to connect music fans to local live music regardless of platform or location, so we are thrilled that so many developers are using our data in such useful and innovative ways. If you are building a sweet new tool using our API and haven’t yet registered as an affiliate, we encourage you to get in touch and give us a heads up! We always welcome feedback and look forward to spreading the word about other products in the future.
